Job summary

Watson Civil Construction, Inc. is seeking a Takeoff Technician to support the estimating team in Tampa or Jacksonville/St. Augustine, FL. The role focuses on accurate quantity takeoffs and bid preparation for heavy civil and roadway projects.

You will assist in data entry, plan review, and organizing estimating materials while learning estimating principles under senior estimators in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of construction, civil engineering, or related field preferred (internship or field experience accepted).
• Ability to read civil construction plans and perform basic measurements.
• Experience with takeoff or design software (Agtek, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, HCSS or similar) is a plus.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Motivated to learn and grow in the estimating field.

Responsibilities

• Review engineering drawings, specs, and project documents.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, and roadway items.
• Assist in organizing bid documents and project files.
• Input data into estimating software (HCSS, Agtek, Bluebeam).
• Coordinate with estimators to verify quantities and material needs.
• Help gather supplier and subcontractor quotes.
• Maintain standardized takeoff templates and data databases.
• Learn estimating principles under senior estimators.
