Job summary

Watson Civil Construction, Inc. is seeking a Takeoff Technician to support the estimating team in Tampa or Jacksonville/St. Augustine, FL. The role focuses on accurate quantity takeoffs and bid preparation for heavy civil and roadway projects.

You will assist in data entry, plan review, and organizing estimating materials while learning estimating principles under senior estimators in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of construction, civil engineering, or related field preferred (internship or field experience accepted).
• Ability to read civil construction plans and perform basic measurements.
• Experience with takeoff or design software (Agtek, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, HCSS or similar) is a plus.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Motivated to learn and grow in the estimating field.

Responsibilities

We are a dynamic and growing company seeking a Takeoff Technician to join our estimating team in our Tampa or Jacksonville/St. Augustine, FL office. This position is ideal for someone looking to build a career in estimating and civil construction, supporting senior estimators and project teams in a fast-paced environment.

Job Description

The Takeoff Technician will assist the estimating team by performing accurate quantity takeoffs and supporting proposal preparations for heavy civil and roadway projects. This position will focus on data entry, plan review, and organization of estimating materials to help ensure complete and accurate cost estimates.

Responsibilities:

• Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and other project documents.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, and roadway items using company software.
• Assist in organizing bid documents and maintaining project files.
• Input and update data into estimating and takeoff software (HCSS, Agtek, Bluebeam).
• Coordinate with estimators to verify quantities, material requirements, and subcontractor inputs.
• Support the gathering and organization of supplier and subcontractor quotes.
• Help maintain standardized takeoff templates and historical quantity databases.
• Learn and apply estimating principles under the guidance of senior estimators.

Qualifications
