About the job Civil Engineering Project Manager

Job Summary:

As a Civil Engineering Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and leading all civil design projects within the organization. You will coordinate with various stakeholders, including clients, engineers, architects, and construction teams, to ensure the successful execution of projects from conception to completion. Your role involves managing project timelines, budgets, resources, and personnel to deliver high-quality civil engineering designs within specified parameters.
Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Coordination:

  • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets in collaboration with clients and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other consultants to integrate civil design requirements into overall project plans.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, codes, and standards throughout the design process.

Team Management:

  • Lead and manage a team of civil engineers and designers, assigning tasks, providing guidance, and monitoring progress.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment to encourage innovation and efficiency in design processes.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to review project status, address challenges, and ensure alignment with project goals.

Client Communication and Relationship Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining open and transparent communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Address client concerns, provide progress updates, and manage expectations regarding project deliverables.
  • Identify opportunities for additional services and work closely with clients to expand project scopes as appropriate.

Budget and Resource Management:

  • Develop project budgets and resource plans, monitoring expenditures and resource allocations to ensure adherence to financial targets.
  • Identify and mitigate risks that may impact project costs or timelines.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to acquire necessary resources, materials, and equipment for project execution.

Quality Assurance and Control:

  • Establish quality assurance processes to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of civil engineering designs.
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits of design documentation to identify and address errors or deficiencies.
  • Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design quality and efficiency.

Construction Phase Support:

  • Provide technical support and guidance during the construction phase, addressing design-related queries and resolving onsite issues as they arise.
  • Review construction documentation, including drawings, specifications, and change orders, to verify compliance with approved designs.
  • Collaborate with construction teams to implement design modifications or revisions as necessary.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Masters degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification required.
  • Proven experience (X+ years) in civil engineering project management, with a focus on design projects.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., Primavera, Microsoft Project) and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
  • In-depth knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems, develop innovative solutions, and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to client satisfaction.

Working Conditions:
This role primarily operates in an office environment but may require occasional travel to project sites for meetings, inspections, or client consultations. Flexibility in working hours may be necessary to accommodate project deadlines and client requirements.
