Stantec is inviting applications for Summer 2027 Civil Engineering interns in Minneapolis or Plymouth within our Community Development Group. You will assist on residential, commercial, and industrial projects including urban design, stormwater, and water/wastewater conveyance, gaining exposure to multiple disciplines.

Your Opportunity

Stantec is now accepting applications for Summer 2027 Civil Engineering interns within our Community Development Group in Minneapolis or Plymouth.

As an intern, you will work in a team environment and have exposure to residential, commercial and industrial community development projects that may include urban design and planning erosion control, stormwater pollution prevention plans, water and wastewater conveyance, and storm water management. We provide efficient and sustainable solutions that are environmentally responsible, functional, and technically sound. Your Key Responsibilities

• Develop technical abilities to complete the civil design tasks on a wide variety of projects in a dynamic team setting.

• Assist with preparation of plans and specifications, reports, and other project deliverables.

• Attend internal design team meetings and potentially some client meetings on an as needed basis.

• Procure permits and other approvals from various agencies.

• Communicate effectively with construction and engineering staff, clients, and other project stakeholders.

• Assist with CAD drafting and design, and preparation of construction documents.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

• Requires understanding of basic AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

• Strong interest in community development engineering disciplines

• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction.

• Ability to work independently.

• Must have a vehicle, good driving record, and valid driver’s license, or other means of reliable transportation to the office and potentially project site visits on an as needed basis.

Education and Experience

• Currently enrolled in an accredited degree bachelor’s degree (minimum) in civil engineering. #Student

• Specific coursework or exposure to one or more of the following is desired: hydrologic design, environmental, transportation, soil mechanics, surveying and construction/project management.

The typical office environment consists of working with computers and working at a desk. Occasional field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. PPT can be provided on an as needed basis.

Pay Range:

$23.47 - $34.50 Hourly

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
