Job summary

Stantec in Nashville is seeking an Intern/Co-op civil engineering student to support water infrastructure projects, including dams, water treatment, and stormwater systems. You will gain exposure to multiple disciplines while contributing to real-world projects for municipalities, utilities, and agencies.

You will assist with project administration, data gathering, reports, CAD/GIS tasks, and basic design calculations.

Qualifications

• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction.
• Willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in project administration including writing reports, gathering information, drafting proposals, drafting correspondence, tracking project costs, and completing progress reports
• Assisting technical staff with various project tasks, including researching, compiling, and evaluating project data, preparing reports, and performing calculations for design projects
• Perform modeling and design activities on a variety of water infrastructure projects
• Gaining exposure and performing basic tasks in CAD, GIS, and other design programs
• Performing construction observations and assisting with field work, as needed
• Completing other engineering/administrative duties as required

Your Opportunity

As an Intern/Co-op, you will work in a team environment and have exposure to water infrastructure projects which may include dams, levees, transportation structures, solid waste landfills, coal combustion residual (CCR) units, water/wastewater piping, pump stations, treatment facilities, stormwater infrastructure etc. Candidates should be highly motivated and dependable who are taking or have taken civil engineering courses.

We are interested in candidates to support our multi-disciplinary team with any of the following areas of interest: water resources, site civil, water treatment, hydrology and hydraulics, structural, and construction. This is a terrific opportunity for a college student to support a number of exciting local and national projects for clients such as local municipalities, state government agencies, power utilities, industrial clients, and federal government.

Your Key Responsibilities

Education and Experience

In progress toward earning a Bachelor's degree (minimum) in civil engineering or related field

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for an extended period. An office presence is expected to maximize learning during the co-op period. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
