Stantec is seeking an Intern/Co-op to contribute to water infrastructure projects in Raleigh, NC. You will work in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team supporting dam, levee, treatment, and stormwater initiatives while gaining hands-on exposure to CAD, GIS, and design tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with project administration: write reports, draft proposals, and track costs.
  • Assist technical staff with data gathering, evaluating project data, and design calculations.
  • Perform modeling and design on water infrastructure projects.
  • Gain exposure to CAD, GIS and other design programs.
  • Assist with construction observations and field work as needed.
  • Complete other engineering/administrative duties as required.

Job description

Your Opportunity

As an Intern/Co-op, you will work in a team environment and have exposure to water infrastructure projects which may include dams, levees, transportation structures, solid waste landfills, coal combustion residual (CCR) units, water/wastewater piping, pump stations, treatment facilities, stormwater infrastructure etc. Candidates should be highly motivated and dependable who are taking or have taken civil engineering courses.

We are interested in candidates to support our multi-disciplinary team with any of the following areas of interest: water resources, site civil, water treatment, hydrology and hydraulics, structural, and construction. This is a terrific opportunity for a college student to support a number of exciting local and national projects for clients such as local municipalities, state government agencies, power utilities, industrial clients, and federal government.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting in project administration including writing reports, gathering information, drafting proposals, drafting correspondence, tracking project costs, and completing progress reports
  • Assisting technical staff with various project tasks, including researching, compiling, and evaluating project data, preparing reports, and performing calculations for design projects
  • Perform modeling and design activities on a variety of water infrastructure projects
  • Gaining exposure and performing basic tasks in CAD, GIS, and other design programs
  • Performing construction observations and assisting with field work, as needed
  • Completing other engineering/administrative duties as required

Education and Experience

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for an extended period. An office presence is expected to maximize learning during the co-op period. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
