Job summary

Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. welcomes a Civil Engineering Intern to join the Nashville team for the summer. You will work directly with licensed engineers on real projects, gaining hands-on experience in civil site design, permitting, and construction documentation.

You’ll assist with site layouts, investigations, and construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D, while developing technical reports and learning SSR policies under supervision.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar software preferred.
• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
• Eagerness to learn and contribute in a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare site layout plans, grading and drainage designs, and utility infrastructure using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Assist in site investigations and collecting field data.
• Develop construction documents, technical reports, and permit applications.
• Conduct basic calculations, quantity take-offs, and material estimates.
