Bohler's Charlotte, NC office is seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Intern (Land Development) for Spring 2027 to gain hands-on experience in site design and permitting. You’ll learn the complete land development process from concept to construction while collaborating with engineers, designers, and project managers.

You will gain practical experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D on concept, grading, stormwater, and utility plans, contributing to real client projects and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in Civil, Environmental, Biosystems Eng or related field.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated with ability to work independently and in teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist with site design and land development tasks under senior engineers.
• Support design and permitting of commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed-use developments.
• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to create concept, grading, and utility plans.
• Attend team meetings and help drive project progress.
• Research zoning ordinances and coordinate with local jurisdictions.

About The Role

Bohler’s office in Charlotte, NC is seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Intern (Land Development) eager to learn, grow, and contribute to real-world site design projects. As a Spring 2027 intern, you will gain insight into the daily operations of a civil engineering firm and understand the complete site development process, from concept to construction. By working alongside engineers, designers, and project managers, you will gain hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, supporting the design and permitting of commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed-use developments.

What You’ll Do

• Experience the day-to-day operations of a civil engineering and site design firm
• Learn the stages of the land development and site design process
• Enhance your technical skills with hands-on experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D to design:
• Concept plans
• Grading plans
• Stormwater management plans
• Utility system plans
• Soil erosion and sediment control plans
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to coordinate and drive projects forward
• Research zoning ordinances and coordinate with local jurisdictions
• Visit sites to observe field conditions and see the engineering process in action
• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to design and process improvements

What You’ll Bring
