Job summary

Bohler in Warren, NJ seeks a motivated Civil Engineering Intern (Land Development) for Summer 2027 to gain real project experience from concept to construction. You will work with engineers, designers, and PMs, supporting site design and permitting for diverse developments.

Gain hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D; learn the full site development process and observe field conditions while contributing to team meetings and project improvements.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Civil, Environmental, Biosystems Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work independently and in teams.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred; training provided if not proficient.

Responsibilities

• Experience the day-to-day operations of a civil engineering and site design firm.
• Learn the stages of the land development and site design process.
• Develop concept plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Develop grading plans for site projects.
• Create stormwater management plans.
• Prepare utility system plans.
• Prepare soil erosion and sediment control plans.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to move projects forward.
• Research zoning ordinances and coordinate with local jurisdictions.
• Visit job sites to observe field conditions and the engineering process in action.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to design and process improvements.

About the Role

Bohler's office in Warren, NJ is seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Intern (Land Development) eager to learn, grow, and contribute to real-world site design projects. As a Summer 2027intern, you will gain insight into the daily operations of a civil engineering firm and understand the complete site development process, from concept to construction. By working alongside engineers, designers, and project managers, you will gain hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, supporting the design and permitting of commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed-use developments.

What You'll Do

• Experience the day-to-day operations of a civil engineering and site design firm
• Learn the stages of the land development and site design process
• Enhance your technical skills with hands-on experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D to design:
  • Concept plans
  • Grading plans
  • Stormwater management plans
  • Utility system plans
