Job summary

Bohler's Rehoboth Beach, DE office is seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Intern (Land Development) for Summer 2027 to gain hands‑on experience in site design and the complete development process. You will work with engineers and project managers on real projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Gain exposure to concept to construction, learn grading and stormwater planning, and collaborate across disciplines in a supportive environment with mentorship and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Civil, Environmental, Biosystems Engineering, or a related field.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• A self-starter with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred; training is provided if not yet proficient.
• Interest in civil site design, land development, and problem‑solving.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day‑to‑day operations of a civil engineering and site design firm.
• Learn the stages of the land development and site design process.
• Enhance technical skills with hands‑on AutoCAD Civil 3D design of concept plans, grading plans, stormwater, utilities, and erosion control.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to move projects forward.
• Research zoning ordinances and coordinate with local jurisdictions.
• Visit sites to observe field conditions and the engineering process in action.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for design and process improvements.

About The Role

Bohler’s office in Rehoboth Beach, DE is seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Intern (Land Development) eager to learn, grow, and contribute to real‑world site design projects. As a Summer 2027 intern, you will gain insight into the daily operations of a civil engineering firm and understand the complete site development process, from concept to construction. By working alongside engineers, designers, and project managers, you will gain hands‑on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, supporting the design and permitting of commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed‑use developments.

What You’ll Do

• Experience the day‑to‑day operations of a civil engineering and site design firm
• Learn the stages of the land development and site design process
• Enhance your technical skills with hands‑on experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D to design:
• Concept plans
• Grading plans
• Stormwater management plans
• Utility system plans
• Soil erosion and sediment control plans
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to coordinate and drive projects forward
