Job summary

Alliant Engineering, Inc. is offering an internship within its Land Development Engineering team in Minnesota. You will support engineers on a variety of projects from residential communities to commercial and industrial sites, gaining hands-on experience and mentorship throughout the summer.

This internship begins May 2027 and runs through August 2027. We value collaboration, a safety-minded approach, and opportunities to contribute to real projects while developing professional skills.

Qualifications

• Actively pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong technical and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preliminary and final design of projects.
• Perform design computations and analyses.
• Assist with preparation of engineering reports and supporting documents.
• Assist in the preparation of construction drawings, specifications and cost estimates.
• Coordinate design decisions with other engineering disciplines.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute work in a safe, timely, cost-effective and compliant manner.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

The Impact You’ll Have:

This internship will provide ample opportunity to participate as a valuable member of our engineering team by working on meaningful projects, while being supported and mentored by our experienced engineering staff. This individual will have the ability to be a part of a cohesive Land Development Engineering team. Jump start your career by working on a range of projects from residential communities for national and local developers to a diverse scale of commercial and industrial projects.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with preliminary and final design of projects
• Perform design computations and analyses
• Assist with preparation of engineering reports and supporting documents
• Assist in the preparation of construction drawings, specifications and cost estimates
• Coordinate design decisions with other engineering disciplines

• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Actively pursing a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word
• Exposure to or interest in learning engineering design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work
• Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines
• Self-motivated, dependable, and eager to learn in a collaborative team environment
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Internship begins May 2027 and will conclude in August 2027.

The pay rate for this position is expected to be $25.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
