Job summary

RS&H is seeking a Highway Engineering Intern in San Antonio, TX, to support design and plan preparation for roadway projects. The role offers mentored exposure to transportation engineering through hands-on tasks and collaboration with senior engineers.

You will gain practical experience in plan development and data collection within our Infrastructure Business Unit. Ideal candidates are enrolled in Civil Engineering, demonstrate strong communication, and can manage multiple tasks.

Qualifications

• Current student pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering at an ABET-accredited university.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously.

The Opportunity

We currently seek a Highway Engineering Intern to join our Infrastructure Business Unit in San Antonio, TX. Highway Engineering Intern will be mentored by and will collaborate with top Engineering associates on our team. The position will assist on both design and plan preparation for roadway design. This is an amazing opportunity to gain hands on experience and a better understanding of the Transportation Engineering Industry.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine calculations requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles
• Prepare and revise plan documents details
• Collect and prepare data for evaluation
• Perform engineering with the use of computer-assisted engineering software and equipment
• Provide support to engineering and project management associates

Qualifications

• Current student pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering at an accredited ABET university
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

• 3.0 GPA or above
• Prior internship or related experience
• AutoCAD and/or Microstation experience
• Experience or exposure to TXDOT plans preparation and design standards
• Specific interest in Transportation / Roadway Design
