Job summary

RS&H invites students pursuing a Civil Engineering degree to join our Infrastructure Business Unit as a Highway Engineering Intern in Miami or Fort Lauderdale, FL. You will be mentored by senior engineers and contribute to roadway design, plan preparation, data collection, and analysis to gain hands-on transportation engineering experience.

Ideal candidates are current Civil Engineering students with strong communication skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks.

Qualifications

• Current student pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering

The Opportunity

We currently seek a Highway Engineering Intern to join our Infrastructure Business Unit in either our Miami or Ft. Lauderdale, FL office. The Highway Engineering Intern will be mentored by and will collaborate with top Engineering associates on our team. The position will assist on both design and plan preparation for roadway design. This is an amazing opportunity to gain hands on experience and a better understanding of the Transportation Engineering Industry.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine calculations requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles
• Prepare and revise plan documents details
• Collect and prepare data for evaluation
• Perform engineering with the use of computer-assisted engineering software and equipment
• Provide support to engineering and project management associates

Qualifications

• Current student pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering at an accredited ABET university
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

• 3.0 GPA or above
• Prior internship or related experience
• AutoCAD and/or Microstation experience
• Experience or exposure to FDOT plans preparation and design standards
• Specific interest in Transportation / Roadway Design
