Job summary

IMEG, a 100% employee-owned civil engineering firm in Dallas, TX, is hiring a Civil Engineering Intern for a 10-12 week summer program. You will assist in analysis, design, and oversight of civil systems, supporting field inspections, report writing, permit applications, and site drainage design.

You’ll work with experienced engineers on municipal, university, and utility projects across Texas, gaining real project experience and mentorship toward a potential full-time opportunity.

Qualifications

• Completed at least 2 years towards a BS in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Knowledge of CAD software and BIM.
• Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design portions of civil projects according to code and IMEG standards.
• Research resources for commercially available equipment.
• Support client relations, maintain the project design notebook, and provide documentation for permanent record files.
• Coordinate design and schedule with other disciplines (architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, etc.).
• Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring progress.
• Review project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to final checks.
• Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information.
• Conduct periodic job site observations and other contracted services.

IMEG is hiring a Civil Engineering Intern in Dallas, TX. Over 10-12 weeks, you'll assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of civil systems. This paid, mentored internship offers real project work supporting field inspections, report writing, permit applications, site drainage and grading design, and learning the civil engineering trade.

You’ll support project documentation, coordination, and job site observations while working with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams to help meet project goals and client expectations. The team supports municipal, university, and utility work across Texas, delivering resilient, environmentally responsible infrastructure.

What You’ll Do

What You’ll Bring

Education

• Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required

Experience

Required Skills/Abilities

• May be required to assist with field duties such as surveying and materials testing
• Strong interest in design consulting
• Skill in the use of Microsoft Office programs, CAD software and BIM
• Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Preferred

• Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred
