Job summary

IMEG is hiring a Civil Engineering Intern in Dallas, TX. This 10-12 week, paid internship offers mentored, real project work supporting field inspections, report writing, permit applications, site drainage and grading design, and learning the civil engineering trade.

You’ll work with experienced engineers on municipal, university, and utility projects across Texas, gaining hands-on experience and cross-functional teamwork while supporting documentation and site observations.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of undergraduate Civil Engineering coursework required.
• Strong interest in civil design consulting and learning on real projects.
• Familiarity with CAD, BIM and MS Office tools is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Assist design portions of civil projects according to code and IMEG standards.
• Research resources for commercially available equipment.
• Support client relations, maintain the project design notebook, and provide documentation for permanent records.
• Coordinate design and schedule with other disciplines (architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, etc.).
• Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring progress.
• Review project documents for accuracy before final checks.
• Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information.
• Conduct periodic job site observations and other services as required.

IMEG is hiring a Civil Engineering Intern in Dallas, TX. Over 10-12 weeks, you'll assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of civil systems. This paid, mentored internship offers real project work supporting field inspections, report writing, permit applications, site drainage and grading design, and learning the civil engineering trade.

You’ll support project documentation, coordination, and job site observations while working with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams to help meet project goals and client expectations. The team supports municipal, university, and utility work across Texas, delivering resilient, environmentally responsible infrastructure.

What You’ll Do

• Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information
• Conduct periodic job site observations and all other services as required by the contract services agreement

What You’ll Bring

Education

• Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required

Experience

• None listed.

Required Skills/Abilities

• May be required to assist with field duties such as surveying and materials testing
• Strong interest in design consulting
• Skill in the use of Microsoft Office programs, CAD software and BIM
• Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Preferred

• Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred
