Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking engineering students for its San Jose, CA office for Summer 2027. This on-site internship offers hands-on experience in civil/environmental design, with exposure to multiple software tools and regulatory practices.

You will contribute to pre-construction planning, design, and analysis while learning Kimley-Horn's standards and client-focused approach. Hourly pay ranges from $34.00 to $35.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• In progress of ABET-accredited engineering degree (Bachelor's or Master's).
• Majors include Civil/Environmental, Mechanical, Biological, Biosystems, Chemical, Agricultural Engineering, or Engineering Technology.

Responsibilities

• Use software to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for clients.
• Contribute to pre-construction civil design, planning, modification, permitting, and analysis.
• Solve problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines.
• Learn and apply regulations and Kimley-Horn practices and standards.
• Learn software programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Excel, Microstation, VISSIM, Open Roads, Synchro and GIS.

Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for Engineering students to join our San Jose, California (CA) office in Summer 2027! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

• Utilize technical software programs on a regular basis to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for our clients.
• Contribute to the pre-construction civil engineering design, planning, modification, permitting, and analysis for multiple projects ranging in size and scope.
• Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients’ visions for the future built environment.
• Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and our client’s practices, procedures, and standards.
• Interns will learn one or more software programs specific to their disciplines: AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Excel, Microstation, VISSIM, Open Roads, Synchro and/or GIS

Qualifications

• In the process of receiving an ABET accredited engineering degree (Bachelors or Masters) in one of the following majors:
  • Civil and/or Environmental Engineering
  • Mechanical, Biological, Biosystems, Chemical, or Agricultural Engineering
  • Engineering Technology

Hourly Rate: $34.00/hr - $35.00/hr
