Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking Engineering students to join our Escondido, CA office for Summer 2027. This internship is onsite and offers exposure to multiple civil engineering disciplines and software tools.

Interns will contribute to design, permitting, and analysis work, learning programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, GIS and more while supporting project managers on diverse assignments.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in ABET-accredited engineering program with expected degree in 2027 or later.
• Pursuing Civil or Environmental, Mechanical, Biosystems, Chemical or Agricultural Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
• Desire to learn and apply engineering software in a client-focused setting.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, produce, and QC deliverables using technical software.
• Contribute to pre-construction civil engineering design, planning, and permitting.
• Solve problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines.
• Learn regulations and Kimley-Horn practices and standards.
• Gain proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Excel, Microstation, VISSIM, Open Roads, Synchro and GIS.

Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for Engineering students to join our Escondido, California (CA) office in Summer 2027! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

• Utilize technical software programs on a regular basis to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for our clients.
• Contribute to the pre-construction civil engineering design, planning, modification, permitting, and analysis for multiple projects ranging in size and scope.
• Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients’ visions for the future built environment.
• Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and our client’s practices, procedures, and standards.
• Interns will learn one or more software programs specific to their disciplines: AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Excel, Microstation, VISSIM, Open Roads, Synchro and/or GIS

Qualifications

• In the process of receiving an ABET accredited engineering degree (Bachelors or Masters) in one of the following majors:
  • Civil and/or Environmental Engineering
  • Mechanical, Biological, Biosystems, Chemical, or Agricultural Engineering
  • Engineering Technology

Hourly Range:

$31 - $32
