Job summary

Thompson Engineering, a Gulf Coast-based firm, seeks an Engineering Associate to join our growing team. You will assist in planning, design, and delivery across disciplines such as site civil, transportation, water resources, H&H, coastal, federal, municipal, and land development projects.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, prepare technical documents, and support schedules, budgets, and client expectations while pursuing PE licensure with mentorship and guided growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 0–4 years of engineering experience.
• FE certification is preferred.
• Experience or coursework in site civil, transportation, water resources, or related disciplines.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer, or MicroStation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with engineering analysis, calculations, and design of construction plans.
• Support design of transportation, site development, water resources, coastal and municipal projects.
• Prepare reports, cost estimates, quantities, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with survey, environmental, geotechnical, structural, and construction teams.
• Participate in field visits and site investigations as needed.
• Use engineering software to develop design documents.
• Support project managers with schedules, budgets, and client expectations.
• Pursue Professional Engineer licensure through mentorship.
