Job summary

AECOM Technical Services, Inc. is seeking a Civil Engineer in Austin, TX to perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, evaluate stormwater designs, and prepare technical reports supporting permitting and project decisions.

The role involves coordinating with roadway engineers, planners and clients, and requires field work with safety compliance. Candidates with a Bachelor's or Master's in Civil/Environmental Engineering and EIT or related experience are encouraged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Civil/Environmental Engineering with related experience or training.
• Experience in hydrology, hydraulics and stormwater engineering.
• Proficiency with HEC-RAS, HY-8, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, QGIS and MS Office.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred or obtainable.

Responsibilities

• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for stormwater, floodplain, and drainage studies.
• Create and evaluate designs for stormwater infrastructure in compliance with criteria.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, and design docs for permitting and submittals.
• Provide integrated water resources solutions and address design restrictions.
• Coordinate with roadway engineers, planners, environmental teams, municipalities and clients.
• Support project delivery with QA/QC and oversight by reviewing model results and cost estimates.
• Perform field work in accordance with Safety Plans.
• Summarize work products in technical reports and memorandums.
• Publicly present technical data.
• Up to 50% domestic travel required.

Job Details:

• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analyses for stormwater, floodplain, and drainage studies using industry-standard modeling tools
• Create and evaluate engineering designs for stormwater infrastructure, including detention/retention ponds, channels, culverts, storm drains, and drainage improvements in compliance with local and state criteria
• Prepare technical reports, engineering calculations, and design documentation to support permitting, agency submittals, and project decision-making, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards
• Provide integrated water resources solutions and address design restrictions
• Coordinate with diverse teams and stakeholders: roadway engineers, planners, environmental teams, municipalities and clients
• Support project delivery through QA/QC and engineering oversight by reviewing model results, design plans, cost estimates and construction documentation to ensure consistent, reliable engineering outputs
• Perform field work in accordance with approved Safety Plans
• Summarize work products in technical reports and memorandums
• Publicly present technical data
• Up to 50% domestic travel required

Qualifications

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field of study and 1 year of experience as Project Engineer, Civil Engineer, or in a related occupation.

Alternatively, the employer will accept a Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field of study and 0 years of experience.
