Job summary

Greenman-Pedersen Inc (GPI) seeks a Civil Engineer specializing in Water/Wastewater to join our Erie, PA office. The role requires a PE license in Pennsylvania and at least 5 years of water/wastewater experience.

You will design and manage projects across water, wastewater, and stormwater, prepare plans, review infrastructure designs, interact with clients, and support new business development while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in civil or environmental engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of water/wastewater experience; PE license in PA required.
• Knowledge of PA regulations for sanitary sewers and water/wastewater treatment.
• Ability to work across multiple design disciplines and meet schedules.
• Valid driver's license with clean MVR.
• Read/write/understand plans and directions in English.
• Proficiency with Word/Excel; Outlook, SharePoint, Teams for communication.
• Able to traverse construction sites and wear PPE as required.

• Mentor junior staff and review project assignments.

Responsibilities

• Design and prepare calculations and specifications for various water, wastewater, stormwater, and general municipal projects
• Prepare project plans for process water/wastewater, instrumentation and controls, site plans, and utility plans to support project approval and construction
• Review civil engineering plans, including public infrastructure, private, commercial, and residential development plans to ensure compliance with relevant codes
• Evaluation and review of stormwater management permits and plans
• Interact with clients regarding ongoing and future public works projects
• Attend meetings, including staff meetings and municipal board meetings as needed
• Prepare, monitor, and manage project budgets/schedules
• Preparation of technical documents/reports
• Actively participate in the water/wastewater industry, stay well-informed of new technologies, and participation in professional societies
• Support new business development by contributing to the company's strategic planning, marketing, and business operations planning
• Assist with the preparation of requests for proposals (RFP's)
• Assist project teams, mentor junior staff, and review project assignments

Qualifications

• BS Degree in civil or environmental engineering
• Minimum of 5 years of water/wastewater experienceA professional engineering (PE) license in the state of Pennsylvania is required
• Understanding of Pennsylvania regulations specific to sanitary sewers, water/wastewater treatment systems
• Ability to work within multiple design disciplines and meet demanding schedules
• Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
• Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
• Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
• Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
• Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
