Job summary

Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a team and coordinate with clients and subconsultants.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D, plus other engineering software.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Lead transportation projects from preliminary design to final plans and advertising.
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, geotechnical, environmental, survey, utility teams.
  • Prepare plans, specs, estimates, calculations, and design reports.
  • Support construction administration and site inspections.
  • Assist with project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and client coordination.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers.
  • Occasionally travel within Alaska for site visits.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Lead projects for public and private surface transportation and similar infrastructure improvements – including preliminary engineering & field reconnaissance thru final design & advertising.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, including civil, structural, geotechnical, environmental, survey, utility, traffic, hydrology, electrical, right-of-way, and construction personnel.
  • Prepare and oversee production of engineering deliverables, including plans, specifications, estimates, calculations, design reports, and other technical documents.
  • Support construction administration and inspection efforts.
  • Contribute to project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and client coordination.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, EITs, designers, and technical staff.
  • Occasionally travel within Alaska for site visits and progress inspections.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in engineering from an ABET accredited school
  • Professional Civil Engineer registration in Alaska, or current PE registration in Civil Engineering from another U.S. jurisdiction with the ability to obtain Alaska registration within 6 months of hire
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional civil engineering experience
  • Transportation, roadway, or highway design experience preferred
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and coordinate with clients, agencies, subconsultants, and internal project teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D, as well as other engineering software applications
  • Excellent time management skills, and ability to produce accurate, efficient work within budget and time constraints
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel for inspection, site assessments, and project coordination
  • Some overnight or multi-day trips may be required.
  • Valid U.S. drivers’ license and good driving record required.
