Job summary

Carlson Consulting Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to assist in the design of large and small retail projects from conception through construction.

The Intern will work with our Professional Design Team on design, permitting, coordination, and field visits. AutoCAD experience and the ability to read site plans are required; travel to job sites is expected and travel expenses are covered.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Civil Engineering degree and available for internship.
• AutoCAD experience (1–2 years preferred).
• Travel to field sites; travel expenses covered.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• Ability to communicate with clients and team members.
• Able to work on multiple projects and stay on feet for long periods.
• Ability to read and interpret site plans.

Carlson Consulting Engineers currently has a need for a Civil Engineering Intern to train to assist in the design of large and small retail projects. The Intern will work alongside our Professional Design Team to aid in the design, permitting, and coordination of projects from conception through construction.

The Applicant should possess a good working knowledge of AutoCad and reading of site plans. The Applicant should also have the ability to communicate with other team members and clients effectively. Interns must be able to travel, as work will be in the field 8 – 10 hours per day. All travel expenses will be covered. This is an opportunity to grow experience as you work towards your Civil degree in an established design firm.

• Grading and Drainage Design
• Stormwater Management Planning

Job Requirements

• Ability to travel (flying and driving) to different job sites
• Ability to effectively document items seen in the field
• Capable of being on feet 3-4 hours at a time
• Valid Driver’s License with good driving record
• Ability to communicate with client staff
• Ability to work on multiple projects at one time
• Self-motivated, capable of working independently or within a project team
• 1-2 years’ experience in AutoCAD (preferred)
