Responsibilities

• Contribute to highway projects in preliminary design phase or plan development phase.
• Measure, calculate, and tabulate quantities for bidding purposes.
• Participate in quality review processes.
• Perform CAD drafting in OpenRoads Designer.
• Collaborate with a task lead or project manager as part of a team.
• Spend time in the field and office to perform construction inspection and site visits to grow as a designer.

Summary

Sambatek is looking for an entry‑level Project Engineer to join our transportation team. In this role, you’ll work closely with experienced engineers to support a variety of transportation projects for county and state clients. You’ll help prepare project documents, learn industry standards and processes, and build your skills while contributing to meaningful work. Work Details

• Work Location: Hybrid, in office for training phase
• Expected Compensation Range: $31.25‑37.00 per hour (Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications)
• Pay Rate Type: Hourly with overtime rate of 1.5x base pay for all hours worked over 40 in a week

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• 0‑3 years of relevant experience
• Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred
• Basic working knowledge of OpenRoads Designer preferred
• 3D corridor modeling experience preferred
• Self‑motivated with strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to manage tasks on a project with strong attention to detail

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Work is primarily performed in an office environment
• Ability to occasionally move equipment/objects weighing up to 10 pounds
