Job summary

The City of Staunton is seeking a Civil Engineer to perform professional work in design, drafting, review, construction, inspection and management of public and private projects. The role requires independent judgment and knowledge of civil engineering principles for city infrastructure.

Ideal candidates have knowledge of water modeling, CAD/GIS mapping, surveying, and stormwater practices; VA PE is preferred. The position offers competitive compensation and benefits in Staunton, VA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of five years of professional civil engineering experience preferred.
• Possession of Virginia professional engineer license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees subdivision and site plan reviews by private parties.
• Serves as liaison with the public, developers and private engineers.
• Manages design projects with focus on stormwater management and related work.
• Prepares CIP estimates and assists with grant funding applications.
• Provides inspection and contract administration for city improvements.
