Crawford, Murphy & Tilly (CMT), named a “Zweig Group’s “Best Firms to Work For.” is a consulting firm with a team of engineers, planners and other related design professionals is actively seeking to fill a full-time position in our Kansas City, Missouri office to help grow our aviation presence in Missouri. The selected candidate will have demonstrated leadership qualities, the ability to work as a team member or independently, the capacity to learn new skills and areas of expertise, and the desire to assist in establishing and growing our aviation business within a new market. This is a unique opportunity to grow and lead our national aviation capabilities in a new geographic market.

Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Planning, design, and construction of civil & transportation projects focused on Aviation development
  • Perform and lead design tasks or projects including the supervising and directing of junior staff
  • Typical projects require preparation of bidding documents (plans & specifications) including horizontal and vertical layout, site development, grading, drainage, pavement design, marking, signage, erosion control, coordination with other disciplines, water & sanitary utilities, quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and construction scheduling
  • Support the client manager in providing service to and developing relationships with existing aviation clients
  • Perform project management and coordination of multi-disciplined tasks necessary to implement projects for clients in our aviation group
  • Perform, assist, or oversee construction-related tasks including on-site construction observation and project engineering
  • Assist in business development activities including prospective client outreach, submittal preparation, and community engagement

Position Requirements :

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required. A Master’s degree in advanced studies will be recognized in the evaluation process
  • Minimum five (5) years of civil engineering experience with demonstrated technical design & construction expertise in transportation, civil site development, and civil infrastructure projects, including geometric design, grading, drainage, pavements, utilities, quantities, engineering reports, and specifications. Aviation experience is preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills will be preferred
  • Professional Engineering License is Required
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Missouri preferred
  • Staff development, supervision, and / or management experience preferred
  • Demonstrated skills and a working knowledge of AutoCAD for use in civil & site design projects
  • Skill using Civil 3D for site modeling, design, and analysis is preferred
  • Interest in experiencing a variety of assignments is important
  • Must be willing to accept periodic out-of-town travel assignments to meet project demands
  • Acceptable driving record and valid driver’s license
