Job summary

Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) in New York is seeking a Civil Engineer to supervise the civil engineering discipline within the Facilities unit at East New York Depot. The role involves planning, directing, and evaluating subordinates’ work for major projects and coordinating with state/city agencies and contractors.

The incumbent will supervise design plans, monitor field surveys, and prepare cost estimates.

Qualifications

Valid NYS Professional Engineer license required.
Master's degree in civil engineering accepted as equivalent to one year of experience.
Experience leading complex civil engineering projects in the last three years.

Responsibilities

Supervise civil engineering staff and evaluate subcontractors.
Plan, assign and review progress reports for major projects.
Represent Bus Operations with state/city agencies, consultants, and contractors.
Prepare or supervise the design plans for major structures and installations.
Monitor field surveys and construction inspections for code/contract compliance.
Prepare design assessments and cost estimates for reports and modification requests.
Inspect equipment and materials for acceptance and process payments.
Interpret layouts and specs to establish engineering criteria and drawings.
Participate in investigations and generate reports as directed.
