Job summary

The City of St. Charles seeks a motivated civil engineer to exercise independent judgement in interpreting and applying engineering requirements for private development, including stormwater management and public infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with emphasis on plan review.
• Five years of civil engineering experience with three years in municipal government.
• Professional Engineering License from Illinois or within 12 months of hire.
• Knowledge of civil engineering, stormwater management, and municipal planning regulations.
• Strong communication skills and proficiency with MS Office and GIS.
• Background check including fingerprinting, physical, functional capacity evaluation, and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Review civil and stormwater plans for private development and related public infrastructure.
• Oversee approval of engineering plans and permits.
• Coordinate consultant reviews of development plans and studies.
• Coordinate with City staff on plan reviews and respond to inquiries on code requirements.
• Assist with administration of financial guarantees for development.
• Participate in Plan Commission evening meetings as necessary.
