About the Position
A Degree in Civil Engineering is Required
As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for planning and designing moderately complex projects, working closely with Project Management to facilitate the successful accomplishment of project goals and objectives. You will also help cultivate relationships and develop new clients in the Evanston area.
Position Type: Full-Time
Take daily direction from the Director of Project Management.
Effectively communicate and coordinate with Office Managers, Project Managers, all Engineering team members, and other technical team members.
Provide daily direction to Graduate Engineers.
Primary Responsibilities:
In your role as Project Engineer, you will perform the following functions:
- Design and develop engineering projects, contributing to the success of the office and organization.
- Create design drawings and specifications, coordinating with other disciplines as necessary, and exercising judgment on engineering details and alternatives.
- Prepare planning and design documents, reports, and cost estimates based on engineering knowledge and codes/regulations.
- Assist the project manager with management tasks and oversee graduate engineers assigned to projects.
- Assist in funding applications and preliminary reports.
- Stamp or seal work performed by yourself and those under supervision.
- Develop project scope, schedule, budget review, and progress reports as directed.
- Attend team and project meetings, participate in post-project reviews.
- Perform 3D CAD design and coordinate with the CAD department.
- Initiate quality control for engineering documents.
- Assist with updating the Project Management Plan.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with clients and contractors, attending meetings as needed.
- Foster communication, collaboration, and team building across departments.
- Ensure standards for client management, service delivery, and technical excellence are upheld.
- Communicate regularly with Project Management and Office Management about project challenges.
Marketing & Business Development
- Participate in marketing activities, proposal preparation, and presentations.
- Seek opportunities for cross-selling and expanding client relationships.
Other Responsibilities
- Participate in recruitment efforts and maintain professional development through industry involvement.
- Follow all safety and health guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience & Certifications Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- 4+ years of professional experience or equivalent.
- Professional Engineer license with the ability to register in Utah and other states within a year.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong engineering principles knowledge.
- Ability to prepare technical reports and records.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Self-motivated and team-oriented.
- Proficient in MS Office, MS Project, Civil 3D/AutoCAD, Inroads/Microstation, and other civil design software.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver's license and acceptable MVR.
- Occasional air travel.
Physical Requirements:
Frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions:
Office environment with site visits in various weather conditions. Night meetings and occasional travel required.
