Job summary

The City of Dayton is seeking an Engineer-in-Training to join our civil engineering team. This entry-level position prepares designs on minor projects and supports major projects related to streets, traffic, water and storm/sewer systems, and other public works facilities.

You will assist with developing cost estimates for City, State and Federally funded projects, and participate in studies that analyze engineering problems. A path toward professional licensure is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
• Degree must be from a college or university accredited by a recognized agency (NCAA/HLC or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Prepares designs on minor projects or assists other engineers on major projects (streets, alleys, transportation systems, curbs, sidewalks, traffic flow, sewers, water distribution and storage, safety).
• Assists in developing cost estimates for City, State and Federally funded projects.
• Conducts studies analyzing engineering problem areas and prepares preliminary drawings and plans to eliminate problems.
