Job summary

City of Dayton is seeking an engineer to design roadway, traffic control, sewer, water distribution, and wastewater systems. The role involves maintaining current project records and preparing plans, specifications, and estimates for construction work conducted by City crews or private contractors.

The candidate will review designs by consultants, use survey data to prepare legal property descriptions, and provide accurate cost estimates and payment determinations for CIP projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 4+ years designing and/or constructing capital improvement projects.
  • Degree must be from an accredited college or university per US standards.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration or eligibility via reciprocity.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license at appointment and thereafter.

Responsibilities

  • Designs roadway, traffic control, sewer, water distribution, and wastewater systems per state and municipal specs.
  • Maintains accurate, up-to-date project records and prepares plans, specs, and estimates for construction work.
  • Provides cost estimates, computes quantities, and determines payments to contractors for CIP projects.
  • Reviews consultant designs and uses survey data and deeds to prepare legal property descriptions.
