Job summary

The City of Dayton is seeking an Engineer-in-Training for an entry-level professional role. You will assist with designs on minor projects and support more complex City civil engineering initiatives, including streets, transit systems, and water infrastructure.

Responsibilities include cost estimation for publicly funded projects, conducting studies to analyze problem areas, and preparing preliminary drawings and recommendations to address issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Degree must be from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education through the Higher Learning Commission or equivalent region.
• License Requirements: Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.

Responsibilities

• Prepares designs on minor projects or assists other engineers on major projects involving streets, alleys, transportation systems, curbs, sidewalks, traffic flow, and civil systems such as sewers and water distribution.
• Assists in developing cost estimates for City, State and Federally funded projects.
• Conducts studies to analyze engineering problem areas and prepares preliminary drawings and recommendations to solve problems.
