A leading company in the nuclear energy sector seeks a Design Engineer to support the North Anna Subsequent License Renewal project. The role involves collaborating with engineering teams to develop technical solutions that meet regulatory standards, ensuring the plant's operational life is extended to 80 years.
Job Summary
Qualifications
Work with application specific engineering team to gain understanding for different system functions and system requirements
Review and Approve Civil Engineering plans developed by equipment vendor
Review and gain a thorough understanding of Application requirements as driven by design specifications, regulatory requirements, and software/hardware requirements assisted by the requirements lead engineer
Ability to report activity status and communicate with all levels of owner/leadership
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
5+ years of relevant engineering experience;
Basic knowledge of engineering theories and principles;
Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing);
Strong personal computer skills;
Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems;
Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices;
Equally effective working independently or in team environment;
Proven decision making skills;
Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks;
Strong planning and organizational skills.
Top 3 Required Skills
1) Experience with design of steel and concrete structures or components (Pipes and conduits supports, Junction boxes support, foundations, etc.)
2) Familiar with industrial standards such as ACI, ASCE, ASME codes for lifting and rigging
3) Experience with seismic analysis and design for mounting components and equipment

o Finite Element Modeling
o Experience as a Responsible Engineering at a Nuclear Facility
o Experience with Software (Mathcad, GTSTrudl, STADD, ANSyS)
o Nuclear Standard Design Process/Design Change qualification

o Familiarity with NRC regulations
