Job summary

Bowman is seeking a Civil Engineer I to join our team in Fairfax, VA. You will evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques on moderately complex projects, under guidance from senior staff.

Responsibilities include working with clients and agencies, conceptualizing initial civil design approaches for land/site development, completing design work and calculations using CAD tools, and assisting with plans, specifications, and reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related engineering discipline required at time of employment.
• EIT preferred.
• Entry level position; civil engineering experience a plus.
• Land development engineering experience and skills; large- and small-scale drainage and BMP design preferred.
• Experience with Civil3D, AutoCAD and related civil design software.

Responsibilities

• Receive general instruction on key objectives for execution and work under direction when needed.
• Work with senior engineers, clients and agencies on moderately complex engineering issues.
• Conceptualize initial civil design approaches for assigned phases of land/site development.
• Complete civil engineering work for assigned phases of large land/site development.
• Assist with development of plans, specifications, and reports.
• Complete design work and calculations using computer-aided software.
• Provide technical assistance including field investigations or inspections and coordination of design aspects.
