Job summary

Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI) in Boston is seeking an Entry-Level Civil Site Engineer to join our team.

You will gain hands-on experience in site design, grading, drainage, stormwater management, and utility design while supporting projects across land development, transportation, municipal, and infrastructure sectors. You will work with senior engineers to prepare plans and technical reports, use AutoCAD Civil 3D for site plans, and participate in design reviews and project meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within one year preferred.
• Internship, co-op, or relevant engineering experience is a plus.
• Basic understanding of civil engineering principles, site development, grading, drainage, and utility design.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the planning, design, and development of site engineering projects, including commercial, residential, transportation, and municipal projects.
• Prepare engineering design calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports under the supervision of senior engineers.

• Assist with permit applications and regulatory submissions.
• Review construction documents and shop drawings for compliance with project requirements.
• Participate in project meetings and contribute to technical problem-solving discussions.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and records.

Requirements

• Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
• Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
• Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
• Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
• Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
