Job summary

City of Detroit seeks an Associate Civil Engineer to analyze project scope, review field data, and design engineering solutions for municipal projects. The role is based in Detroit with standard hours 8 AM to 5 PM, focusing on delivering compliant, cost-effective infrastructure improvements.

You will prepare plans, ensure adherence to codes and budget, manage contractors and staff, and coordinate with public and private groups.

Qualifications

• US Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Mechanics.
• Three years of experience as a civil engineering professional.

Responsibilities

• Analyze project scope and evaluate field conditions and data.
• Develop and design engineering solutions.
• Prepare engineering construction plans.
• Ensure conformance with plans, specs, budget, codes.
• Manage and interpret construction projects and plans.
• Create project documents and maintain records.
• Oversee contractors and supervise inspectors and staff.
• Mentor and advise project team on assignments.
• Represent the department with citizens and agencies.
• Prepare and evaluate RFPs for consultants and services.
