Job summary

The City of Morgan Hill is seeking Assistant/Associate Engineer to support Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) and Land Development Engineering. The role will focus on a large sanitary sewer project and may expand to other CIP or land development tasks based on experience.

The position offers both Assistant and Associate levels, with responsibilities ranging from project management to technical supervision and coordination with outside agencies.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Two years of professional civil or related engineering experience; an advanced degree may substitute for one year of required experience.
• Possession of a California Engineer-in-Training certificate is an acceptable credential; registration as a Professional Civil Engineer is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Design and detail structures, utility facilities, roadways, site improvements and various public works projects.
• Oversee development of construction drawings for accuracy and conformance with design requirements.
• Act as project engineer of construction projects of moderate difficulty.
• Inspect the construction of engineered facilities for conformity with plans and specifications.
• Direct the work of consultants and/or technical staff on specific projects.
