Job summary

The City of Morgan Hill is seeking an Assistant/Associate Engineer to support Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) and Land Development Engineering, with a current focus on a large sanitary sewer project. The position is flexibly staffed, allowing employment at either level, and reports to the Senior Engineering Staff.

Responsibilities include design and review of plans, project management, coordination with consultants and outside agencies, and performing field inspections to ensure compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required for both roles.
• Assistant Engineer requires 2 years of professional civil engineering experience; advanced degree may substitute for one year.
• Associate Engineer requires 4 years of professional civil engineering experience; advanced degree may substitute for one year.

Responsibilities

• Design and detail structures, utility facilities, roadways and site improvements.
• Oversee development of construction drawings for accuracy and conformance with design requirements.
• Act as project engineer of construction projects of moderate difficulty.
• Inspect the construction of engineered facilities for conformity with plans and specifications.
• Direct the work of consultants and/or technical staff on specific projects.
• Prepare and review plans, specifications, bids, contracts and reports.
