Actalent is seeking a Civil Engineer focused on water resources and water/wastewater infrastructure for an early career opportunity in South Bend, IN. You will gain hands-on project experience, working with experienced engineers on design, permitting, fieldwork, and client interaction while building a consulting career.

You'll be mentored, exposed to multiple project phases, and develop technical skills through structured professional development and real project contributions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • 0-3 years of professional engineering experience (internships and co-ops welcome).
  • EI certification or ability to obtain EI certification.

Responsibilities

  • Apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and design principles to support infrastructure projects.
  • Perform field investigations, site inspections, and construction support activities.
  • Assist with engineering reports, permitting efforts, and project documentation.
  • Support the planning and design of water resources and water/wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Perform engineering calculations and assist with technical analyses.
  • Review construction drawings and project specifications.
  • Coordinate with contractors, clients, and regulatory agencies.

What You'll Do

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering
  • 0-3 years of professional engineering experience (internships and co-ops welcome)
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn
  • Engineer Intern (EI) certification or ability to obtain EI certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • Internship, co-op, or project experience related to civil engineering
  • Interest in water resources, municipal infrastructure, or water/wastewater engineering
  • Desire to pursue Professional Engineer (PE) licensure

Prior water/wastewater experience is not required. We are committed to training and developing engineers who are eager to learn and grow within the industry.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Bend, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.58 - $36.54/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms. If eligible, the benefits available for this temporary role may include the following:
