CIVIL ENGINEER (REMOTE) – METAL PIPE & STORMWATER SYSTEMS
About our Client

Our client, a long‑standing Midwest manufacturer with more than 50 years of proven success, is a leader in corrugated metal pipe (CMP) and stormwater management solutions. They partner closely with civil engineers, municipalities, contractors, and DOT agencies to deliver durable, high‑performance infrastructure that meets demanding environmental and structural conditions.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Civil Engineer with a strong background in stormwater management and drainage system design. This role focuses on promoting, designing, and supporting corrugated metal culvert and stormwater solutions for highway, rail, municipal, and land development projects. The engineer will provide technical expertise to customers and internal teams, ensuring products meet hydraulic, structural, and regulatory standards while balancing performance and cost‑efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hydraulic & Structural Design: perform culvert sizing, hydraulic analysis, and complete stormwater system layouts in accordance with AASHTO, ASTM, and local regulatory standards.
  • Product & Application Engineering: develop practical design solutions involving corrugated metal pipe, spiral rib pipe, box culverts, and structural plate systems for drainage, crossings, detention/retention, and buried bridge applications.
  • Technical Support & Collaboration: work closely with sales teams, customers, and external engineering firms to provide design packages, shop drawings, and value‑engineered alternatives.
  • Design Software Utilization: use AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, HydroCAD, or Bentley software to create detailed plans, profiles, sections, and 3‑D models.
  • Field & Project Coordination: interpret site conditions, geotechnical reports, and permitting requirements; conduct occasional site visits to support installation verification.
  • Research & Documentation: contribute to product improvement initiatives and prepare technical materials, including case studies and training presentations.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) preferred, but not required.
  • Experience: 3–7 years in stormwater or drainage system design; experience with culverts or pipe systems strongly preferred.
  • Prior hands‑on experience with stormwater product applications is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: proficient in hydrologic/hydraulic modeling; familiarity with AASHTO LRFD, ASTM, and AREMA standards.
  • Professional Attributes: strong communication and problem‑solving skills, ability to simplify complex technical information for customers and contractors; comfortable working independently from a remote/home office environment.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
  • Direct impact—see your designs manufactured and brought to life.
  • Competitive salary range $75,000–$100,000, depending on experience.
  • Complete benefits package including health insurance, 401(k), PTO, expense reimbursement, and a company‑provided vehicle.
