Navigate Search is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Milwaukee-area team and support planning, design, and management of diverse civil projects.

The role covers lifecycle work from planning through permitting, bid, construction, and closeout, with client interaction and field visits. 2–10 years of experience and a Wisconsin credential within 2 years are preferred.

Qualifications

• 2-10 years of civil engineering experience.
• Current Wisconsin engineering credential or ability to obtain within 2 years.
• Experience with land development and/or municipal infrastructure preferred.

Responsibilities

Civil Engineer - Diverse Projects - Milwaukee or Madison

Position Overview

We are seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Milwaukee-area team and support the planning, design, and management of a variety of civil engineering projects.

This is a great opportunity for an engineer with 2-10 years of experience who wants exposure to diverse project types, including commercial, industrial, healthcare, retail, educational, institutional, municipal, and land development projects.

The Civil Engineer will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from initial planning and design through permitting, bidding, construction, and project closeout. The role combines technical design work with client interaction, project coordination, and occasional field work.

Key Responsibilities:

Civil Design & Engineering

• Develop civil engineering plans and design drawings using AutoCAD/Civil 3D
• Set up and manage modeling files for new projects
• Analyze survey, mapping, and materials-testing data
• Perform civil engineering calculations and design analysis
• Evaluate project feasibility, construction costs, schedules, and potential risks
• Consider environmental impacts, site constraints, regulations, and permitting requirements
• Prepare plans, specifications, and bid documents
• Develop stormwater and utility designs
• Support infrastructure improvement and replacement projects

Project Management & Coordination

• Work directly with clients, contractors, municipalities, and other design professionals
• Coordinate and monitor project progress through various phases of design and construction
• Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, and overall delivery
• Ensure designs and projects comply with applicable codes, regulations, and health and safety requirements
• Monitor construction activities and provide technical support to resolve field issues
• Participate in site visits and construction inspections as needed
• Present project findings, proposals, and technical information to clients, municipalities, and other stakeholders

Candidates should be comfortable splitting their time between technical design work in the office and occasional field activities.
