Job summary

AME Design Group is seeking a highly motivated Civil Engineer to join our team in Chicago. This role involves performing site due diligence, designing land development concept plans, and guiding clients through initial stages of construction projects.

Job description

We are looking for a highly‑motivated and experienced Civil Engineer to join our team in Chicago. The role involves performing site due diligence, designing and drafting land development concept plans, and guiding clients through the initial stages of their construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Research and collect site‑specific information to initiate the land development process and perform site investigative due diligence.
• Design and draft multi‑building land development concept plans in AutoCAD Civil 3D for commercial and industrial uses.
• Prepare schematic site plans, grading, and utility plans to illustrate site developability based on learned constraints.
• Perform stormwater detention analysis, site utility design, and earthwork analysis to inform site planning effort for cost and constructability.
• Meet with internal and external customers to review concept plans, discuss advantages of multiple approaches, and work to define project direction with Design/Build contracting team.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• 2–8 years of land planning experience in Chicago.
• AutoCAD Civil 3D experience creating templates and styles (plus).
• Ability to perform stormwater detention analysis and site utility design calculations independently.
• Strong knowledge of local zoning codes, stormwater management codes, FEMA flood maps, FWS wetland maps, record civil and survey drawings.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus; ARCO supports pursuit of licensure for EIT and offers a $5,000 bonus for successful PE license.
