Job summary

Thomas Young Group in Charlotte is seeking a senior civil engineer to lead the design, planning, and delivery of civil and land development projects from concept through construction.

You will manage budgets and schedules, prepare site and road designs, mentor junior staff, engage clients, and drive business development while upholding quality and safety standards.

A North Carolina PE license is required or attainable within 3 months; strong communication and leadership skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 6–8+ years civil engineering experience required.
• North Carolina PE license (or ability to obtain within 3 months).
• Strong background in site/civil design incl. grading, stormwater, utilities, roads/parking.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, planning, scheduling, and execution of civil and land development projects.
• Prepare detailed site, grading, stormwater, water/wastewater, roadway, and parking designs.
• Produce reports, analyses, technical specs, and construction documents.
• Manage budgets, schedules, and quality control throughout project delivery.

What you'll be doing:

Leading the design, planning, scheduling, and execution of civil and land development projects

Producing reports, analyses, technical specifications, and construction documentation

Managing budgets, schedules, and quality control throughout project delivery

Overseeing preliminary and final design phases as well as construction services

Guiding and mentoring junior staff to support their professional development

Engaging in client communication, business development, and marketing efforts

What we're looking for:

6–8+ years of civil engineering experience

Professional Engineer license in North Carolina (or ability to obtain within 3 months)

Strong technical background in site/civil design including grading, stormwater, utilities, and roadway/parking design

Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office

Excellent communication, problem solving, and leadership skills

Established client network and business development experience (a plus)
