Job summary

Thomas Young Group in Charlotte, NC seeks a Senior Project Manager to lead site and civil engineering design from concept through construction. The role covers diverse land development projects across real estate, healthcare, higher education, parks, and local government.

You will mentor junior engineers, manage schedules and budgets, review plans and permits, and coordinate with clients and agencies to keep projects on track. A licensed NC PE with 8+ years of experience is required.

Qualifications

• Licensed PE in North Carolina.
• 8+ years in site/civil engineering, land development, and PM.
• BS in Civil Engineering (MS preferred).
• Experience leading teams and mentoring junior staff.
• Strong client-facing communication.
• Proficient in Civil 3D, MS Project & Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead site and civil engineering design from concept through construction.
• Oversee land development projects across sectors (real estate, healthcare, parks, government).
• Mentor junior engineers and support technical growth.
• Manage project schedules, budgets and deliverables.
• Lead QA/QC processes for consistency and accuracy.
• Coordinate with internal teams, clients and permitting authorities.
• Review engineering plans, specs and permit documents.
• Attend and lead client/agency meetings.
• Support business development through opportunity identification and proposals.

What you'll be doing:

• Leading site and civil engineering design from concept through construction
• Overseeing a mix of land development projects across sectors like real estate, healthcare, higher education, parks, and local government
• Mentoring junior engineers and supporting their technical growth
• Managing project schedules, budgets, and deliverables
• Handling QA and QC processes to maintain consistency and accuracy
• Coordinating with internal teams, clients, and permitting authorities
• Reviewing engineering plans, specs, and permit documents
• Attending and leading client and agency meetings
• Supporting business development by identifying opportunities and contributing to proposals

What we're looking for:

• Licensed PE in North Carolina
• Eight or more years of experience in site and civil engineering, land development, and project management
• Skilled in grading, stormwater, utilities, and site layout
• Experience leading teams and mentoring junior staff
• Strong communicator with client-facing experience
• Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Project, and Office Suite
• GIS experience is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred)
