Actalent is seeking a Civil Designer to support land development and stormwater projects in Pennsylvania. The role emphasizes site planning, grading, and drainage design with opportunities to grow towards licensure.

You will analyze survey data, prepare site layouts, and lead BMP design while coordinating with architects, surveyors, contractors, and government officials to ensure compliance and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of civil engineering experience focused on land development and stormwater
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
• Experience with land development including site design, grading and subdivision planning
• Hands-on stormwater design including BMP planning for infiltration, detention, and retention systems
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D for drawings, layouts, and drainage plans
• Ability to analyze survey data, maps, and soil tests for code-compliant designs
• Strong analytical skills for peak flow, pipe network, and NRCS TR-55/Rational modeling
• Collaborative with architects, surveyors, contractors, and public agencies
• Clear written and verbal communication; proactive teamwork
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new software and standards

Responsibilities

• Analyze survey plans, maps, and soil tests to develop land development designs for city and state approvals
• Prepare detailed site layouts, subdivision and grading plans for land use and infrastructure
• Lead stormwater planning and BMP design (infiltration, detention, retention basins)
• Perform pipe network analyses and hydraulic calculations for drainage systems
• Develop stormwater models using NRCS TR-55 and Rational Methods
• Prepare and submit permit applications to local/state/federal agencies
• Collaborate with architects, surveyors, contractors and officials to align project goals
• Maintain professional written communication documenting decisions and updates
• Contribute to team knowledge and support project milestones
• Continuously learn new software/tools and standards to improve performance
