Davis, Bowen & Friedel, Inc. (DBF) in Salisbury, MD is seeking a self-motivated civil engineer to support design production and permitting of water, wastewater, and roadway projects.

The role emphasizes reviewing drawings, performing design calculations, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The ideal candidate has a two- or four-year civil engineering degree and at least two years of basic civil/site design experience, including grading, drainage, utilities, and erosion control.

Qualifications

• Two- or four-year degree in civil engineering.
• Minimum two years’ experience with basic civil/site design, including grading and drainage, utilities and erosion design for residential and commercial projects.
• Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations related to water, wastewater, and roadway design.

Responsibilities

• Utilize design software, CAD, and other tools to plan, design, and permit projects such as water infrastructure, sanitary sewer infrastructure, roadway and streetscape improvements, and stormwater conveyance/management.
• Perform civil design analysis and calculations according to project requirements.
• Prepare and/or assist in preparation of correspondence, cost estimates and bid documents for clients.
• Perform field activities such as observing and recording existing field conditions and taking verifying measurements within project areas.
• Incorporate all information from surveys, project documentation, and jurisdiction codes into design.
• Use feedback to modify existing designs and develop solutions.
• Provide timely technical assistance.
