Job summary

Dewberry is seeking a Civil Designer to join our Richmond, VA civil group focused on site/civil projects in the Energy market. You will draft and prepare plan sets using AutoCAD Civil 3D, coordinate with engineers and project managers, and contribute to design development from concept to final drawings.

The role favors candidates with 4+ years of site/civil experience, Civil 3D proficiency, and a collaborative mindset. In-person work in Richmond is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Engineering Technology degree or vocational certificate preferred.
• 4 years' experience in site/civil, utilities, and roadway design preferred.
• 4 years' experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D dynamic tools for surfaces, alignments, pipe networks, cross sections, profiles, and view frames.
• Knowledge of Civil 3D corridors and grading surfaces is a plus.
• Competent in Microsoft Office programs.
• Willingness to assist with a wide range of projects and work with multiple project managers.
• High attention to detail, good organizational and time management skills.
• Willingness to learn new drafting and design techniques.
• Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with coworkers, managers, and clients.
• Ability to ask for additional direction and assistance when needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide drafting and engineering design by preparing and maintaining AutoCAD Civil 3D drawings to company standards.
• Prepare designs from general instructions and preliminary sketches.
• Create overall exhibits for preliminary client site-specific requests.
• Complete allocated work in a timely manner while maintaining standard CAD practices in QA.
• Create civil record plans and production to finalize As-Built drawings; prepare and maintain documents.
• Coordinate with team members including CADD technicians/designers, engineers, managers, admin staff and construction staff.
• Manage multiple projects and allocate production to meet deadlines.
• Work both independently and as part of a design team.

Dewberry has an opportunity for a CAD Designer to join our Civil Group focused in the Energy Market Sector in our Richmond, VA office. This position will be part of the Civil Design team working with engineers, project managers, and other professionals. This position emphasizes design and plan set preparation of a variety of site/civil projects, including commercial developments, roadway construction, and utility construction projects. Work activities may include grading, pipe networks, alignments, profiles, sections, and redline drafting for conceptual, preliminary, and final design drawings.

Required Skills & Required Experience

Salary Range

The projected range for this position is $74,200 to $95,400 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly. These ranges are for Richmond, VA only.
