We’re hiring a Staff Engineering Technician – Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) to support innovative Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects with Black & Veatch.

If you have strong experience with Autodesk Civil 3D, grading, drainage, and utility plan development, this is an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale distributed infrastructure projects alongside a high-performing engineering team.

Position

About the Role

In this role, you’ll support engineering and design teams by developing and modifying technical deliverables for BESS infrastructure projects. You’ll work with advanced design tools and collaborate across disciplines to deliver high-quality civil site designs.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop site drainage, grading, and utility plans using Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation
• Create and modify technical drawings and engineering deliverables
• Develop proposed grading surfaces and detailed site layouts
• Perform design calculations, material quantities, and estimates
• Ensure deliverables comply with project standards, codes, and quality requirements
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering and design teams
• Review design inputs and maintain consistency across deliverables
• Support continuous improvement, quality control, and change management initiatives
• Provide technical guidance and support to other engineering professionals and technicians
• Assist with schedules, work assignments, and project coordination as needed

Required Qualifications

• Knowledge of engineering standards, document control, and design procedures
