Job summary

Kimley-Horn in Orlando, FL is seeking an experienced CAD Operator to join our Roadway team. You will develop concepts and preliminary and final designs for projects, including alignments, profiles, surface modeling, and plan preparation.

The role requires 3+ years of relevant experience, strong CAD software skills (Autodesk or Bentley), and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while coordinating with the team and maintaining drawing databases.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associates degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of relevant CAD experience.
  • Strong detail orientation and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop concepts and preliminary/ final roadway designs.
  • Create technical drawings using CAD software and perform quality checks.
  • Coordinate with the project team to maintain schedules and standards.
  • Maintain and organize the drawing database; may supervise CAD staff.

Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for an experiencedCAD Operator to join our Roadway team in Orlando, Florida, (FL)!

Responsibilities
  • The candidate will develop concepts as well as work on preliminary engineering and final design for projects
    • This would include developing geometric alignments, profiles, surface modeling, cross sections, grading design, drainage, superelevation, construction details, work zone traffic control, erosion control, and signing and striping plans
  • This person will develop technical drawings and plans using CAD software
  • The person in this position will make and quality check drawings and plans of substantial complexity and may perform some multifaceted calculations
  • Requires minimal supervision to perform day to day tasks
  • Has knowledge of engineering principles and suggests design changes
  • Maintains drawing database
  • May supervise and train CAD staff
  • Coordinates work activities to maintain schedules and ensure quality control
  • Develop familiarity with Kimley-Horn’s practices, procedures, and standards
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (associates degree preferred)
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in Autodesk or Bentley products
  • Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self-starter
  • Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication/writing skills and desire to learn
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
