Job summary

Thomas & Hutton offers an engineering internship focused on civil land-development, providing hands-on experience across residential, commercial, and industrial projects in the Southeast. You’ll learn from seasoned mentors and gain exposure to industry-standard tools such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

You’ll support design work, permitting, and coordination with regulatory agencies while contributing to team tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Interest in land development and site design projects.
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD; Civil 3D exposure preferred.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to learn and contribute in a team setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of site-development plans for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
• Support the design of water, sewer, and storm-drainage layouts and construction drawings.
• Assist with permit packages and coordination with regulatory agencies.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and design teams on daily project tasks.
• Support modeling and drafting efforts using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Assist with project documentation and organization to support scope, schedule, and quality goals.

Schedule:

On-site: Monday-Thursday 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.; Friday 7:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
(Schedule may be flexible based on academic commitments.)
