Job summary

Thomas & Hutton invites driven Civil Engineering students to join our internship program in Charlotte, NC, where you'll gain hands-on experience on real land-development projects and learn from seasoned mentors. This on-site role emphasizes collaboration, quality, and practical application of classroom knowledge.

You'll assist with site plans, water and drainage layouts, permits, drafting with AutoCAD Civil 3D, and project documentation while balancing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Interest in land development and site design projects.
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD; Civil 3D exposure preferred.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to learn and contribute in a team setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing site-development plans for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
• Support the design of water, sewer, and storm-drainage layouts and construction drawings.
• Assist with permit packages and regulatory coordination.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and design teams on daily project tasks.
• Support modeling and drafting using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Assist with project documentation and organization to support scope, schedule, and quality goals.

Schedule:

On-site: Monday-Thursday 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.; Friday 7:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
(Schedule may be flexible based on academic commitments.)
